HISTORY: Joe and Cece Hubbard opened their first restaurant R. J. Max’s,
located at 514 S. 7th Street, as a full service
restaurant in May, 1993. Things were going well until the powers that be decided to
finally begin construction on the “overpass” that had been talked about for years!
Once that construction began, it was almost impossible to get to Max’s.
At this time, it just so happened that the owners of the building on 7th Avenue were looking to
sell (it was Bubba’s Bar B Q at the time). "We decided to buy this location as well.
During the discussions of what would be served at the new place, we found ourselves saying,
at the other place we can do this, etc, so, we decided on the name The Other Place and
opened our doors in February, 1995". At that time, Max's restaurant became Max's Bar.
"We’re proud to say we’re still here and going strong." The steaks have been voted
“Best of the Best” in Navarro County for the last twelve years.
Anyone can find something they’ll like on the menu – from the delicious ½ lb. burgers
to the steaks and Prime Rib (Friday & Sat. nights only). There also is a full service bar.
"Come by and give us a try – we think you’ll like us!"
